June 12: World Day against Child Labor

imageJune 12, observed as “World Day Against Child Labor” worldwide to draw attention to the need to defend Child Rights.

Objective: To eradicate child labour and other violations of fundamental rights of children, in all forms.
National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) in collaboration with UNICEF and ILO, organized several programmes to address the issue

Theme of the year: “Justice for children – end child labour

  • As per ILO reports there are 218 million child labourers worldwide.
  • As per Government’s 2001 census 12.7 million are entangled in child labour and children constitute 3.6% of the total labor force in India
