Joint collaboration of IBM and NSDC to offer free training on Digital skills
New York based tech giant IBM tied up with National Skill Development Corporation to provide a free digital education platform based on emerging technologies and professional development skills.
Key Highlights
- IBM is going to compose more than thirty online courses with over 60 hours of learning from the Open P-Tech platform in emerging technologies like cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and machine learning, cloud, and the Internet of Things.
- The youths of India will have access to all the courses via NSDC’s eSkill India portal on various skills to achieve targets in future careers.
- Professional development skills like design thinking will be provided, targeting the age group of 18 to 22 for free.
- Apart from English and Hindi, the courses will be available in various other Indian languages.
IBM’s previous partnership with India
Previously, IBM has joined its hand with several other government organizations like Directorate General of Training at the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, CBSE, NITI Aayog, State Department of Education and state skills missions, etc.
What is the function of NSDC?
National Skill Development Corporation is a Public-Private Partnership based organization under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship. It was founded in 2008 as a non-profit company, under section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956 (resembles section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013) by the Ministry of Finance with the aim of providing skilled manpower across various industrial sectors.
