January 12: National Youth Day

Every year, on January 12, the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda is celebrated as National youth Day. In order to commemorate his birth anniversary, GoI also organizes National Youth Festival. The National Youth Festival is to be held between January 12, 2020 and January 16, 2020 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The festival is being organized by the Government of India since 1995.

National Youth Day

Every year the Ministry of Youth affairs and sports celebrate the event annually with any one of the states. This year, the state of Uttar Pradesh been chosen. The day is being celebrated since 1985.

National Youth Festival

The 23rd National Youth Festival is organized by the Ministry of youth Affairs and State Government of Uttar Pradesh. The theme of the festival is

Theme: Fit Youth Fit India

The theme is chosen to align with the Fit India movement that was recently launched by GoI. The festival aims at bringing the youths of the country together. Around 6,000 participants are expected to participate in the festival. It includes volunteers from NSS (National Service Scheme), NYKS (Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan) and local youth.

Apart from Fitness, the festival will also focus on culture. Several dance programmes of classical dance such as Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Manipuri, Kuchipudi are to be held.
