Jagananna Vidya Kanuka Scheme launched in Andhra Pradesh

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has launched Jagan Anna Vidya kanuka scheme. The state government has allocated Rs 650 crores for the scheme. Under the scheme the state government will provide school kits to 43.32 to lakh government school students.

Key highlights

The kits to be provided have been named Vidya Kanuka kits. The kit comprises of one pair of shoes, three pairs of uniform, two pairs of socks, textbooks, notebooks, school bag and belt.

The stitching charges of the uniform are to be credited to the Mother’s accounts. Andhra Pradesh government has launched exclusive schemes for mothers in the state.

Amma Vodi Scheme

In January 2020, Andhra Pradesh Amma Vodi scheme was launched by Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. Under the scheme, financial assistance of Rs 15,000 was credited into accounts of 43 lakh mothers in the state. This was done to help the mothers educate their children. The scheme was first of its kind in the country. The state government allocated 14,000 crores of Rupees for the scheme. The scheme also two cup modernisation works in 45,000 Government schools.

Nadu Nedu Mana Badi Programme

Under the scheme, the state government of Andhra Pradesh provides necessary furniture at par with private schools.

Background

The state government of Andhra Pradesh is in the path of bringing down the literacy rate of the state. This is being done by introducing several welfare schemes in education sector. The current literacy rate of the state is 66.4%.

YSR Asara scheme

The scheme was launched in September 2020. It aims at empowering women socially and economically. Under the scheme the Andhra Pradesh government will reimburse outstanding loans of women self-help groups as on April 2019 in four different phases.

All the above schemes are a part of navaratna welfare schemes of the state government.
