ISRO working on important technologies for human space flight
The government in its written reply to Rajya Sabha has stated that the Indian Space Research Organisation, ISRO, is at present working on important technologies for human space flight. For the space flight programme, the flight suit has already been developed and the life support system and the crew escape window are being developed currently.Overall, the government has sanctioned Rs.173 crore rupees for the project. As of March 2016, the organisation has utilised Rs. 137 crores for the project.
The Indian Human Spaceflight Programme (HSP) is a programme of ISRO to develop and launch ISRO Orbital Vehicle to carry a 2 member crew in the Low Earth Orbit (LEO). The spaceflight will be launched by the GSLV MkIII launcher. Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle-Mark III (GSLV Mk-III) with payload – Crew module Atmospheric Reentry Experiment (CARE) weighing 3775 kg was already successfully tested in 2014.
