ISRO to launch INSAT-3D launch on July 26, 2013

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is slated to put advanced meteorology satellite INSAT-3D on July 26, 2013 after putting the regional navigation satellite IRNSS-1A from Sriharikota on the light-lift PSLV rocket on July 1, 2013.

 The satellite which weighs 2,090 kg is meant exclusively for meteorological studies. It will be flown to its orbit on the European Ariane 5 launch vehicle. INSAT-3D would go into space along with Alphasat, Europe’s largest telecommunication satellite, which is owned by the U.K.-based commercial operator Inmarsat.
