Israel provides AI-based technology and equipment to AIIMS
Israel has shared the ‘state-of-the-art artificial intelligence-based technologies and high-end equipment’ with AIIMS, New Delhi, as part of the cooperative efforts between India and Israel to combat the deadly COVID 19 Pandemic in the world. The Ambassador of Israel to India has handed over the equipment and high-end technology to the AIIMS Director.
Technology that has been shared
The technologies shared by the country include an AI video-oriented, voice-operated autonomous personal AI assistant robot, an app that can be installed on any mobile phone of the COVID 19 staff attending the patients, etc. This will help in bringing more effectiveness and efficiency in the overall functioning of the COVID 19 related monitoring in the hospitals and healthcare centres. This also includes innovative products designed to provide clinicians constant contact-free access to the vitals of the patients such as the heart rate and the respiratory rate. etc. The technologies also include a 12-hour disinfection product called CPD that stays active to protect the surface against new attacks of contamination.
Impact of the Technology
This is the most advanced medical equipment being developed by Israel and also that country is already using these to fight against this pandemic. The technologies will also help bolster the COVID 19 combat drive stronger in the country. Some of the technologies have been contributed by the Israeli companies whereas some were purchased with special fund allocated by the Israeli Foreign Affairs Department.
India-Israel Relations
India and Israel’s relations developed slowly over a period of four decades. India recognized Israel in 1950 following which an immigration office was opened in Bombay. This was later converted into a Trade office and a Consulate, thereafter. The relations were upgraded in 1992 and since then, defence and agriculture are the two main areas of cooperation between the two countries. In 2018, a government-to-government agreement of Cybersecurity, oil and gas cooperation, film cooperation and air transport were signed. India and Israel’s trade mainly constitutes of diamond trade that has a 53% share in the overall trade. India exports precious stones and metals, chemical products and textiles, etc. and the major imports include chemicals and mineral products, base metals and machinery and transport equipment, etc.
