Iran allows IAEA only partial access to Parchin

Iran gave only partial access to IAEA delegation which visited country’s military facility in Parchin. It is suspected by the IAEA that that Parchin facility may have been used for high explosives testing that can be used to trigger a nuclear explosion, based on satellite imagery of the base. Iran has put across that it would allow complete inspection of the military complex only after striking a political deal based on dialogue with the six global powers, which comprise the five Security Council members and Germany (P5+1). The meeting b/w Iran and P5+1 is slated to be held at the end of Jan 2013.

What is Parchin?

Parchin is an Iranian military complex, located about 30 kilometres (19 mi) southeast of Tehran. It is suspected that Iran is advancing with its nuclear enrichment program for making nuclear weapons. Iran is not allowed to do so as it is a signatory to Nuclear non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT)
