IPL 2020 suspended by BCCI

On April 15, 2020, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has suspended the Indian Premier League, 2020 indefinitely. The decision was made after the lock down in India was extended till May 3, 2020.

Highlights

The BCCI had plans to conduct the month long matches in June, 2020. However, due to the extension of the lock down and also with the increase in spread of the virus, the matches have for now been suspended indefinitely. No date of postponement has been announced.

The BCCI was formed in 1928. It is the national governing body. Apart from IPL, BCCI also organizes Ranji Trophy, Irani cup, Duleep Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, Deodhar Trophy, IPL, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Women’s IPL, etc.

MS Dhoni Factor

The main catch of IPL, 2020 was the return of the Indian Cricketer M S Dhoni, former Indian Cricket team captain to the international cricket. He has not played international matches since 2019 world cup.
