Invalid Pension to Armed Forces Personnel even with Service of Less than 10 years Approved by Govt.

The government has taken the decision that invalid pension for the armed forces will now be extended to the army personnel with less than 10 years of service also. Earlier, any army personnel would be eligible for this only after completing 10 years of service. This will be applicable to all the eligible people who were in service on or after 04.01.2019.

Prior to this, invalid gratuity amount was admissible to army personnel with less than 10 years of service. This pension is given to personnel who is declared invalid on account of physical or mental disability and as accepted as Neither Attributable to Nor Aggravated (NANA) by Military Service. People who have been out of service due to such disability and also are not capable of getting any civilian job will be benefitted definitely by this decision of the Ministry of Defence.

What is NANA?

Neither Attributable to Nor Aggravated by military service implies that the reason for disability is not related to the military service. Such people were earlier given pension only after 10 years of service, but now they will also be eligible for a pension with less than 10 years of service.
