International Year of Millets

The United Nations General Assembly has recently adopted resolution to declare 2023 as the International Year of Millets. The objective of this resolution is to create awareness about health and environmental benefits of millets and attract investment for millet-related research and development and services. This resolution was initiated by India, Bangladesh, Kenya, Nepal, Russia and Senegal. It was co-sponsored by around 70 nations. This comes in the backdrop of declining millet cultivation across the world.
