International Women’s Day Week
The International Women’s Day week is celebrated by the Women and Child Development Ministry from the 1st of March as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Overview:
- As part of this week-long celebration, various events and social media campaigns that will cover a variety of themes that will be related to women’s empowerment and safety are being organized by the Ministry.
- This event is being organized in partnership with the Bureau of Police Research and Development, with the goal of raising awareness of women’s safety and security.
Objective of organizing the International Women’s Day week
The objective of organizing this event so that it can be used as an opportunity to celebrate progress toward gender equality and women’s empowerment while also critically reflecting on the achievements and striving for gender equality.
Schedule of the event
On 2nd March, this event will focus on the role that is played by One Stop Centres in supporting women who are in distress. Street Manoraksha Project will also be launched by the ministry in collaboration with NIMHANS Bengaluru. Emphasization will be given on the psychosocial well-being and improving the mental health of women across the country.
‘Women of Tomorrow’ will be the theme celebrated on 3rd March. A panel discussion will be held on topics such as Young Women in STEM – Opportunities, Challenges, and Solutions which will be followed by #NariShaktiVarta Fireside Chat with the Women and Child Development Ministry on financial literacy.
In Bhopal, a two-day National Workshop with State Commissions for Protection of Child Rights on Contemporary Child Rights Issues will be held on 4th and 5th March.
‘Back to School’ Campaign will be launched as ‘Kanya Shiksha Pravesh Utsav’ on 7th March jointly by UNICEF India and MoWCD, focusing on supporting girls who are out-of-school.
Two major events will be organized on 8th March, the final day. They are the International Women’s Day Conference for Women Police Delegates from all States and UTs and Nari Shakti Puraskaar. The events will honour the women’s extraordinary acts and bring together a diverse audience to work toward gender equality in India as a united force.
