India pledges $15 million to International vaccine alliance GAVI

On June 4, India made an announcement in the virtual Global Vaccine Summit to pledge $15 million to the international vaccine alliance GAVI. At the same time, India is also eligible for support from GAVI. India’s financial support will amount in lowering down the vaccine prices globally.

This donation comes in the context of India being one of the biggest producer of vaccines which has made a difference to about 60% of children globally.

About GAVI
Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, abbreviated as GAVI, is a public–private global health partnership aiming to increase the rate of immunization in poor nations. It has an observer status at WHO and brings together international organizations, donor countries, developing countries, reseach and technical organizations, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and other philanthropists, people from vaccine industry and many other on one platform to expand immunization globally.
