International Seminar on Climate Smart Farming Systems for BIMSTEC countries
The Director-General of ICAR inaugurated the 3 day International Seminar on Climate Smart Farming Systems for the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) countries in New Delhi on Wednesday, 11th December 2019.
The Seminar is organized by the Department of Agricultural Research and Education under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare, Government of India and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
The objective of the seminar is to promote experience and sharing for enabling the improvement of tropical smallholder farming systems for greater resilience to climate change through ecological approaches and increasing the overall productivity. All 7 BIMSTEC countries, India, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Srilanka, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, and the BIMSTEC secretariat are attending the three day International Seminar.
The seminar was announced by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi during the fourth BIMSTEC summit held from 30th to 31st August 2019 in the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu.
