International Gita Mahotsav 2024

The International Gita Mahotsav (IGM) 2024 commenced in Kurukshetra, inaugurated by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, at the historic Brahma Sarovar. The festival runs from November 28 to December 15, 2024. This year, Odisha is the partner state, and Tanzania is the partner country.

Inauguration Ceremony

The Chief Minister offered prayers to the Bhagavad Gita. He performed a yajna near Lord Krishna’s chariot idol. Distinguished guests included Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan and Tanzanian Minister Tabia Maulid Mwita. They inaugurated Tanzania’s pavilion, showcasing its culture and cuisine.

Festival Highlights

IGM-2024 features a global Gita recitation by 18,000 students. Cultural programs will be presented by artists from across India. International Gita seminars will also take place. A grand aarti at Brahma Sarovar is planned, along with Deepotsav celebrations.

Since its inception in 2016, the festival has grown. Last year, it attracted 45-50 lakh visitors. A similar turnout is anticipated this year. Live broadcasts are available at prominent temples in India, including Puri and Mathura.

Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj brought into light the festival’s global recognition. Rituals such as havans and yajnas are central to the celebrations. The event draws participation from devotees worldwide, enhancing its spiritual atmosphere.

Each evening, visitors can enjoy various spiritual and cultural activities. The festival promises a rich experience for attendees. Former minister Subhash Sudha praised the event’s cultural and religious significance. The Mahotsav aims to share the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita with a global audience.
