Indonesia to use ‘artificial rain’ to combat forest fires
The Indonesian government has announced that it would deploy ‘artificial rain’ ahead of peak draught season, which provides favorable condition for forest fires. Airplanes will be used to induce clouds with chemicals like silver iodine or dry ice. The government has collaborated with Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency and Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology to develop the artificial rain.
