India’s First HAM based STP inaugurated in Haridwar
The Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Trivendra Singh Rawat inaugurated India’s first Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) based 14 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in Sarai, Haridwar under the Namami Gange Project of the National Mission for Clean Ganga.
The inauguration program was conducted in the presence of the Swedish Royal Couple, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia along with their team of delegates.
The sewage treatment plant is a 100% eco-friendly plant, capable of removing the nutrients during the treatment as the plant is based on advanced aerobic biological process, sequential batch reactor (SBR) process. The 14 MLD based STP plants cost around Rs 41.40 crores.
Municipal sewage has been the main source of pollution for the river Ganga, to tackle this pollution issue, 150 sewerage projects at an estimated cost of over Rs 23000 crore have been implemented by the government to date.
