Indian Railways to observe ‘Cleanliness Week’ from August 10
Indian Railways has decided to observe ‘Cleanliness Week’ starting from August 10 till August 15 in order to give the message of the importance and significance of cleanliness for the national transporter.
What will the Indian Railways do?
During this week, the Indian Railways has decided to launch a special cleanliness drive and also special focus will be provided to clean the tracks, station offices, colonies, worksites, the edge of stations and other areas near the premises of the railway stations, across the country. The Ministry has decided to focus mainly on the plastic waste collection from the tracks along with other waste products.
Significance of this period
This is being observed amidst partial lockdown in all parts of the country. That is why; the lesser number of passenger trains is running on the tracks. The IR will utilize this opportunity in the most effective manner. It will focus on intensive cleaning of stations, trains, water bending points, toilets and drains. Awareness drives will also be launched during this period in which the Railway-men will urge the passengers and the general public to keep the trains, stations and tracks clean from any kind of wastes.
