Indian Military Heritage Festival 2024 Launches in New Delhi

The 2nd edition of the Indian Military Heritage Festival (IMHF) is taking place in New Delhi on November 8-9, 2024. This festival aims to promote discussions on India’s national security and military heritage. It serves as a platform for global and Indian experts, corporations, and scholars to engage in meaningful dialogue.

Inauguration Details

The festival will be inaugurated by Chief of Defence Staff Gen Anil Chauhan, along with the three Service Chiefs. This event marks the commencement of a two-day celebration focused on India’s military legacy.

Project ‘Shaurya Gatha’

A feature of this year’s festival is the launch of Project ‘Shaurya Gatha’. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Department of Military Affairs and the United Service Institution (USI) of India. Its goal is to conserve and promote India’s military heritage through educational and tourism activities.

Publications and Book Releases

The festival will highlight important publications on military topics. Notable releases include:

  • “Because of This: A History of the Indo-Pak Air War December 1971” by Air Mshl Vikram Singh (Retd)
  • “Valour and Honour,” a joint publication by the Indian Army and USI of India
  • “Silent Weapons, Deadly Secrets: Unveiling the Bioweapons Arms Race,” edited by Lt Gen Vinod Khandare (Retd) and authored by Dr. Mrinmayee Bhushan.

DRDO Exhibition

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) will host a photo exhibition. This exhibition will showcase DRDO’s achievements and contributions towards Atmanirbhar Bharat, denoting innovations in defence research.

The festival aims to inspire the younger generation. NCC Cadets and students from schools and colleges in the Delhi NCR area will participate. Their involvement is intended to encourage interest in careers within the armed forces.

Stalls from the three Services will be set up at the festival. These stalls will inform attendees about the roles of the armed forces and the various career opportunities available for aspiring youth.

Previous IMHF Highlights

The festival brought to light the diverse aspects and initiatives of the Indian armed forces, setting a precedent for this year’s event.
