‘Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre’ inaugurated by Home Minister

The Union Home Minister of India, Amit Shah on Friday, 10^th January 2020 inaugurated a state-of-the-art centre for the ‘Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre’ in New Delhi and also dedicated a citizen-centric ‘National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal’ (www.cybercrime.gov.in) to the nation. Built at an estimated cost of Rs 415.86 crore, the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre was approved by the Central Government in October 2018 which will deal with all types of cybercrimes in the country in an improved coordinated and comprehensive manner. To date, a total of 15 states and union territories have given their consent for setting up of Regional Cyber Crime Coordination Centers at their respective states and union territories under the initiative of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.

The web portal was launched as a pilot project back on 30^th August 2019 and to date, more than 3,900 police stations across 700 districts from the country are connected with the portal that will improve coordination amongst the law enforcement agencies of the country in dealing with cybercrimes in a much effective and coordinated manner.
