The Government has recently reduced number of mandatory documents required for exports and imports. There is a facility for online payment of application fees etc.
Indian Customs Single Window Project
In Budget 2014-15, the government had announced an Indian Customs Single Window Project to facilitate trade. Under this project, the importers and exporters can submit their customs clearance documents at a single point with customs. They can also obtain any permission online from other regulatory agencies such as animal quarantine, plant quarantine, drug controller and textile committee. The government has established an electronic exchange facility between customs and various agencies such as FSSAI, Department of Plant Protection, Quarantine and Storage (PQIS) etc.
