IndiaAI Compute Portal and the AIKosha Dataset Platform

The IndiaAI Mission has marked its first anniversary with advancements in artificial intelligence. On this occasion, Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw introduced the IndiaAI compute portal and the AIKosha dataset platform. These initiatives aim to enhance access to AI resources and encourage innovation across various sectors.

IndiaAI Compute Portal

  • The IndiaAI compute portal is a key initiative designed to provide access to over 18,000 GPUs.
  • This portal will serve students, startups, researchers, and government departments. The service will be available at an affordable rate of ₹67 per GPU hour.
  • The portal aims to streamline access to non-personal datasets, facilitating AI innovation.

AIKosha Dataset

  • AIKosha is an all-in-one dataset platform that provides resources, tools, and expert mentorship.
  • It aims to assist in transforming innovative ideas into industry solutions. The platform hosts non-personal data from various government ministries, including agriculture and logistics.

AI Upskilling Initiatives

As part of the mission, the government announced the establishment of AI labs in tier-II and tier-III cities. An AI Competency Framework was introduced to build capacity among civil servants. The Integrated Government Online Training (iGOT) AI programme will recommend tailored courses for civil servants, ensuring they are equipped with relevant skills for AI applications.

IndiaAI Mission

  • The IndiaAI Mission, initiated in March 2024, has a budget of ₹10,371.92 crore.
  • It aims to catalyse AI innovation through public-private partnerships.
  • The mission is implemented by the IndiaAI Independent Business Division under the Digital India Corporation.
  • The compute portal is component of the mission, with nearly 45% of its budget allocated to it.
