India Young Water Professional Programme
The India Young Water Professional Programme was launched by Ministry of Jal Shakti. The programme was launched under the National Hydrology Project. It is supported by Australia.
What is India Young Water Professional Programme?
- The programme was launched to adopt sustainable water management.
- The Programme aims at capacity building and training. Around 70% of the programme focuses on learning through Situation Understanding and Improvement Projects, that is, learning based on situations.
- It focuses on gender equality and diversity. Twenty participants were selected for the first phase. 10 men and 10 women.
- The second phase of India Young Water Professional Programme is to be launched in 2022.
What is the role of Australia in the programme?
The programme is to be implemented by the Australia – India Water Centre. The seeds of the programme was sowed in 2019 during a co – design workshop held between the countries under the National Hydrology Project initiative.
What are the objectives of India Young Water Professional Programme?
- The main objectives of the programme are to equip water professionals with necessary knowledge, skills, networks.
- The programme will also provide required network that will enable the water professionals to contribute to the management of water resources in the country. Also, the background support of the programme will help the water professionals to address the priorities of water sector in India.
