India, UK Initiate Skill Recognition and Mapping Talks

Talks have begun between India and the UK to handle and map out skill gaps and work toward mutual recognition of qualifications between the two countries. The goal of this effort is to help India’s young and growing workforce find better job chances in the global market.

Strategic Collaborations: Linking Job Portals

One important step in this plan is the possibility of linking India’s National Career Service (NFS) website to the UK government’s job website. The goal of this merging is to make it easier for Indian workers to find jobs in the UK. Through the India-UK Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement (MMPA), the focus is on exchanging workers between industries, especially in fields that need a lot of work, like textiles.

Joint Working Group Discussions

Several Indian government departments, including those in charge of foreign affairs, skills development and entrepreneurship, home affairs, education, and labor and employment, shared their ideas at a recent meeting organized by the India-UK MMPA joint working group. Cross-border job matches and closing skill gaps were two important goals that were set to encourage the safe and regular movement of skilled workers.

Proposals for Enhanced Job Matching and Social Security

India wants UK companies to post job openings directly on the NCS portal to make the process of matching people with jobs faster. There were also talks about creating an international reference group for jobs with the International Labour Organization’s help to make it easier for workers to move around. It was also emphasized how important it is to sign a Social Security Agreement (SSA) to protect the welfare of foreign migrant workers from both countries. India and the UK are working together to create a dynamic environment that will attract skilled workers and help both countries. They are doing this by continuing to talk and work together on strategic projects.
