India Skills Report: Maharashtra with highest employable talent
On December 9, 2019, the India Skills Report was released jointly by the CII (Confederation of Indian Industry), AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education), UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) and AIU (Association of Indian University). The report provides employability of citizens in the country across the states and. The report also ranked the cities based on the availability of employment.
The report was prepared based on a survey that assessed 300,000 candidates from 35 educational institutes across 28 states and 9 Union Territories.

According to the report, Maharashtra topped the list with the highest employable talent. Following Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh ranked second and third respectively.
Highlights: City wise
Among the cities, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Pune were rated as the most employable cities in the country. Mumbai was at the top most followed by Hyderabad. Hyderabad entered the top ranks for the first time since the launch of the report.
Highlights: Profession
The report said that MBA holders were at the top slot with an employability score of 54%. This position was held by engineers in 2018. MBA category was followed by pharmacy, commerce and arts candidates at second, third and fourth places respectively. The employability in these slots increased by 15%.
Highlights: Gender wise
The Employability scores of male and female for the year 2019 was 46% and 47% respectively. Last year, the scores of male and female was 48% and 46%. This shows that women are more employable than men.
Overall employability rate of the country was 46%.
