India’s 2nd riverine Multi-Modal terminal (MMT) inaugurated by PM Modi
India’s 2nd riverine Multi-Modal terminal (MMT) has been inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Sahibganj in Jharkhand on 12th September 2019. It is constructed by Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) on river Ganga under Jal Marg Vikas Project at a cost of Rs 290 crore in a record time of about 2 years. The terminal at Sahibganj will open up industries of Jharkhand and Bihar to the global market and provide Indo-Nepal cargo connectivity through waterways route. India’s first MMT was built at Varanasi.
