India, Myanmar hold 18th National Level Meet
India and Myanmar organized the 18th National Level Meeting in New Delhi.
India reiterated its commitment to bolster the cooperation b/w the two nations to eliminate the link b/w the drug trade, arms smuggling and extremism/terrorism.
India sought Myanmar’s support for coordinated patrolling along the Indo –Myanmar border and dismantling IIGs camps in Myanmar for peace and economic prosperity in the region.
Myanmar assured that it would never allow insurgents and negative elements to use its own soil for activities unfriendly to its neighbor India.
Both countries discussed and agreed to cooperate on matters like insurgent Groups along the border, arms Smuggling & drug trafficking, border management issues, Myanmar Fishermen in A&N jails, illegal smuggling of wild life parts, inspection and verification of pillars etc.
Both countries expressed satisfaction over opening of a third Border Liaison Office (BLO) b/w Changlang, India and Pangsau, Myanmar. It was emphasized to promote BLOs to further cooperation b/w law enforcement agencies of both the nations for peace and tranquility along the border. It was decided to open a fourth BLO in Nagaland sector b/w Ukhrul, Manipur, India and Somra, Myanmar.
