India Launches Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP)

India introduced its Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) in June 2024, which has quickly gained popularity, enrolling over 19,000 individuals, including foreign nationals with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cards. The program began at Delhi Airport and has now expanded to 31 international airports across the country.

FTI-TTP is now available at major airports including Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. Officials expect enrolment to surpass 20,000 by year-end. This expansion aims to accommodate the growing number of frequent international travellers.

Participants in FTI-TTP can enjoy expedited immigration clearance. The use of e-gates allows for processing speeds that are 60-65% faster than traditional methods. This efficiency enhances the travel experience for eligible participants.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants must hold an OCI card and submit their biometrics, including fingerprints and facial images. Individuals aged 12 to 18 can register using their parents’ or guardians’ contact information. However, those under 12 or over 70 years old are not eligible for the programme.

Registration Process

The registration process takes approximately one month, which includes biometric submission and verification by field agencies. Once approved, the registration remains valid for five years or until the applicant’s passport expires.

FTI-TTP is tailored for frequent travellers, including OCI cardholders, high-net-worth individuals, CEOs, and business professionals. The programme is designed to meet the needs of those who travel internationally on a regular basis.

Currently, the programme is free for Indian nationals and OCI cardholders. It is modelled after the US Global Entry Programme but customised to align with Indian immigration requirements. FTI-TTP aims to simplify and expedite the immigration process, enhancing global mobility for its users.
