India, US inks pact to cooperate in ICTE to facilitate Digital India programme
India and United States have agreed to cooperate in the field of Information and Communications Technology and Electronics (ICTE) to facilitate Union government’s ambitious Digital India programme(DIP).
In this regard, Joint Declaration of Intent for cooperation was signed by Secretary in the Department of Electronics and IT- RS Sharma and US Ambassador to India- Richard Rahul Verma.
Key highlights of Joint Declaration
- It will facilitate Union government’s flagship DIP, including electronic manufacturing and cyber security and several other such related fields between the two countries.
- Within period of next five years, it will help in strengthening industrial, technological, research and innovation and economic cooperation between India and the US.
- Under the umbrella of the ongoing India-US ICT Dialogue, it will also provide platform to US companies for exploring opportunities to collaborate in DIP, electronics manufacturing and human resource development
