Participants
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture Meenakshi Lekhi, MoS IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar as well as leaders from the industry and prominent CEOs, will attend the IGF Bengaluru. As many as 30 CEOs and founders will be participating.
Start-up environment in India
As of January 14, this year, India has 83 unicorns valued at USD 277.77 billion, according to the Economic Survey 2021-22. In 2021, the country added a record 44 unicorns, surpassing the United Kingdom to become the world’s third-largest unicorn country, behind the United States and China. This year, eight Indian start-ups have entered the coveted unicorn club, which indicates that the number of unicorns in India may rise dramatically in the coming months.
Unicorns and start-ups have been at the center of India’s economic growth story in the last two years. The world is looking at ‘New India’ for investments in start-ups from a variety of industries, including fintech, edtech, and healthcare, and the country is on the verge of a digital economy and tech-driven revolution.
