India ‘economic linchpin’ in Afghanistan – Robert Blake

image Robert Blake, Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia in a Congressional hearing held that “any discussion of South Asia has to start with India”, and that the State Department viewed India “as kind of the economic linchpin for future” as far as it’s significant role in Afghanistan was concerned.

The Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs is the head of the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs within the United States Department of State, which handles U.S. foreign policy and relations in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
