India-Denmark R&D on Green Fuels
India and Denmark recently agreed to initiate joint research and development on green fuels, including green hydrogen, at a virtual meeting.

- The agreement was signed as a part of already adopted “Green Strategic Partnership – Action Plan 2020-2025”, at a virtual meeting on January
- Apart from the agreement, India-Denmark Joint Committee discussed national strategic priorities and developments in Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) in both the countries.
- Special focus was given on green solutions of future-strategy for investments in green research, technology, and innovation.
India-Denmark Joint Committee meeting agenda
- The committee emphasised on developing bilateral collaboration on mission-driven research, innovation, and technology development.
- They also emphasised on climate and green transition, water, energy, waste, food, etc, in accordance with the “Green Strategic Partnership – Action Plan 2020-2025”.
- They further agreed to organise 3-4 webinars for partnership development.
- They also stressed on promoting call for proposals in green fuels like green hydrogen.
- Committee reviewed the progress of ongoing projects being implemented across several areas including water, energy research, cyber-physical systems, and bioresources & secondary agriculture.

- K. Varshney- Adviser & Head of International Cooperation, Department of Science & Technology.
- Stine Jorgensen- Deputy Director of Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science.
India-Denmark Relations
Foundation for India-Denmark relations was laid in 1957 when Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru visited Denmark. The relation has endured since then. The countries share a cordial and friendly relation, on the basis of cooperation in economic, political, academic and research fields. Denmark has an embassy in New Delhi, while India has an embassy in Copenhagen. Denmark has been ranked 26th among foreign investors in India.
Green Strategic Partnership
Both the countries launched the Green Strategic Partnership to deliver sustainable solutions to India. It will focus on expanding economic ties, green growth, and cooperation on challenges like climate change. It will build on an existing Joint Commission for Cooperation as well as existing joint working groups.

Green growth term is used to describe a path of economic growth, which uses natural resources in sustainable manner.
