India and China sign two agreements
India and China have signed two agreements including one in the field of water resources on sharing hydrological data on Sutlej River and other on cultural agreement.
These agreements were signed after talks between Vice President Hamid Ansari and his visting Chinese counterpart Li Yuanchao in New Delhi. Mr. Li is the first Chinese Vice President to visit India in more than six decades.
Key facts
- Water Resources Agreement: It was renewal of an agreement dealing with sharing hydrological data on Sutlej River.
- Cultural Agreement: Under it, India will hold exhibition of art from the Gupta period, which is known as golden period in the country. During this period famous Chinese traveller Fa Hien visited the country.
Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao also had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and had discussed issues of mutual interests. Both leaders discussed the ways to increase their economic and developmental partnership. The two sides also agreed that peaceful, cooperative and stable relations between both neighbours are vital for regional and global peace and prosperity.
