India & China Jointly ranked 80th in the Corruption Perception Index
India has been ranked at the 80th rank among 180 countries and territories in the Corruption Perception Index (CPI), which is prepared by the non-profit organization Transparency International. India was ranked at the 78th place in the previous year’s ranking.
The Corruption Perception Index was recently released during the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. It ranks 180 countries and territories across the world, by their perceived levels of corruption prevailing in the public sector, according to experts and business people.
Denmark has retained the first place from the previous year while being accompanied by New Zealand at the top spot in this year’s ranking with both nations scoring 87. India to have the company of its neighbour China at the 80th place in the rankings with both countries scoring 41. Among other neighbours of India, Pakistan with a score of 32 ranked at the 120th place while Bangladesh has been ranked at 146th with a score of 26. Somalia ranked at the bottom of the table with a score of 9.
