India, Britain ink pact on urban regeneration & development
An MoU was signed b/w India and Britain focusing on urban regeneration and development. The pact envisages promotion of cooperation in areas including sustainable master planning, transport planning and land economics. It also visualizes promotion of cooperation in areas of heritage management, regeneration governance, regeneration capacity building and public private partnership financing arrangements. India seeks to benefit from the British experience is urban regeneration works. The pact is particularly important as India would soon launch the next phase of the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission and that the Centre was keen on encouraging PPP in urban sector, especially in larger cities. The international firms including British firms were invited to participate in the process.
