India, Bangladesh ink extradition and visa pacts

image India and Bangladesh inked a liberalized visa agreement and a significant extradition pact that would pave the way for the deportation of jailed ULFA ‘general secretary’ Anup Chetia and other wanted criminals.
Both nations also introduced a “revised travel arrangement” under which New Delhi as well as Dhaka eased their visa regimes under several categories.
The treaty, however, would not be applicable for persons accused of political offenses and only those with accused with charges like murders, culpable homicide and other serious offenses would come under the ambit of the pact.
India has promised to put in efforts to hunt two absconding and convicted killers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and hand them over to Dhaka as two of them were thought to be hiding in India.
