IIT-Khargapur national Coordinating Institute to implement SPARC (Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration) programme
On October 25, Minister of Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar launched the web portal of of the Scheme “Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC)” in New Delhi. The aim of the SPARC is to improve the research ecosystem of India’s higher educational institutions by facilitating academic and research collaborations between Indian and foreign institutions. It is a scheme for promotion of academic and research collaboration. Under the scheme, the Union Government will provide Rs 418 crores for 600 joint research proposals. The Indian institutions which come in top 100 or a top 100 in category wise in NIRF and the best institutes in the world from selected 28 nations with overall top 500 ranking and top 200 subject wise institutes in QS world university ranking will be part of the scheme. IIT-Khargapur is the national Coordinating Institute to implement the SPARC programme. The research work under both the scheme would start from January 2019.
