IIT Kharagpur to Train Students from Other Institutes in Agri-Tech
The Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur has announced that it is going to launch a course in order to impart training to the students and faculty members of other institutions in the country pertaining to agricultural techniques. These students will then train farmers in the usage of the technology so that the overall agricultural output can be increased in the country.
The course titled as ‘Application of Digital Technologies in Agriculture’ will have topics such as usage of sensors, drones, robots and artificial intelligence for increasing the farm production of the agriculture sector of the country. In the First Phase of this course, the institute will offer the course to the students and faculty members of Vasantrao Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Maharashtra.
This project has been conceptualized under a project of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and the main objective is to educate the farmers regarding various farm practices commensurate with the changing climatic conditions.

Indian Council of Agricultural Research is the coordinating institution for agricultural education and research in the country. ICAR works under the Department of Agricultural Research and Education, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare. The Union Minister of Agriculture is the president of the institution and also it manages the largest network of agricultural research and education institutions in the world. Established in 1929, it is based in New Delhi.
