IFS officer Vivek Kumar appointed Private Secretary to PM Modi

Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Vivek Kumar has been appointed as private secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This new assignment for Vivek Kumar was cleared by Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), headed by Prime Minister and order was issued by Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).

About Vivek Kumar

He is a 2004 batch IFS officer.

He is currently working as Director in Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). He was appointed in PMO as Deputy Secretary in 2014.

His appointment as PM’s private secretary will come into effect from the day of assumption of charge.

His new tenure will be on co-terminus basis or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Succeeds: Vivek replaces Sanjeev Kumar Singla, who will now be taking over as India’s Ambassador to Israel.

Singla is a 1997 batch IFS officer. He was appointed private secretary to PM Modi in 2014. He had returned home to serve in PMO after a posting in Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel.
