“#iCommit” Initiative launched by Power Ministry

On June 5, 2020, the Ministry of Power launched the ‘#iCommit’ initiative on the occasion of World Environment Day.

Highlights

The initiative was launched to encourage stakeholders to continue providing efficient renewable power and resilient energy system in the future. The initiative is driven by the Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EFFSL).

Role of EFFSL in the initiative

Under the initiative, EESFSL is to unite diverse set of players such as corporates, think tanks, multilateral and bilateral organizations, governments, etc.

Background

The initiative has been launched to build a resilient future. It aims to enrich the stakeholders about the importance of creating flexible and agile power system.

Core of the Campaign

The campaign mainly aims to bring innovative changes in the current power system of the country. This includes decentralised solar power and electric vehicles and several other innovative measures as well.

The initiative is to promote current undertakings of the GoI such as

  • National Electric Mobility Mission
  • FAME 1
  • FAME 2
  • Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyothi Yojana
  • Saubhagya scheme
  • Ujwal DISCOM Assurance Yojana (UDAY)
  • Smart Metering Programme
  • Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Uttan Maha Abhiyan (PM-KUSUM)
  • UJALA Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LED for All
  • AJAY Atal Jyoti Yojana
