IAF’s Tarun Chaudhri became 1st pilot to do Wingsuit Skydive Jump

Wing commander Tarun Chaudhri became 1st pilot of Indian Armed Forces (IAF) to do a Wing Suit Skydive Jump. The jump was accomplished from an altitude of 8500 feet (2590.8 meters) from a Mi-17 helicopter. This is 1st IAF Wing Suit Skydive Jump by a pilot who has flown and captained same type of helicopter.

Key Highlights

This is 1st flying wingsuit jump demonstration at an organised gathering. The feat was deepest imprint of ethos and professionalism of IAF.

Jump was undertaken during Kargil Diwas celebrations at Air Force Station Jodhpur, Rajasthan on 21-22 July 2019.

Since 1999, Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year on July 26 in India to mark success of Operation Vijay by Indian armed forces against Pakistani intruders in Kargil sector of Jammu and Kashmir in which Indian Air Force played a decisive role in changing the tide of the war in India’s favour.
