Hotspot Areas of COVID-19 identified and Antibody Tests in Hotspots approved
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has identified 20 Covid-19 hotspots in the country. Though there are no community transmission in the country, ministry is take these hotspots strictly. Also, 22 potential hotspots have been identified.
Antibody Tests
As the ministry identified hotspots, the ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) was put on action in these areas. The ICMR is to conduct antibody tests in the hotspots. The aim is to identify individuals that do not show symptoms but still have released antibody into their blood stream due to COVID-19 infection.
About the test
The tests are rapid and the results will be available in 15 to 20 minutes. The RT-PCR (Reverse Transcription-PCR) test is to be conducted to check the presence of antibodies. The main purpose of conducting the test is to identify asymptomatic COVID-19 patients.
It is important to identify asymptomatic patients as it is easier to cure them. The initial stages of COVID-19 can easily be controlled and the patients can recover earlier as well.
