Holotype

The term ‘holotype’ refers to an illustration or physical example of a species. It may also refer to one of several physical examples of the organism. It is a unique type specimen that is designated by the original author (who describes the species) and serves as the representation for the given species name. The species holotype of the recently rediscovered black browed babbler is at the Naturalis Biodiversity Centre in Leiden, the Netherlands.
