Himachal: Rise in MLALAD Fund
While presenting the Budget 2022-23 in Himachal Pradesh’s state assembly, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur announced that the Member of Legislative Assembly Local Area Development (MLALAD) fund would be increased from Rs 1.80 crore to Rs 2 crore.
Overview:
- The MLALAD fund has been increased by Rs 20,00,000.
- While presenting his fifth and last budget, the CM stated that during his tenure the MLALAD has been increased by a total amount of Rs 90 lakh.
Other Announcements in the State Budget 2022-23
The MLA discretionary fund has also been increased from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 12 lakh. 500 new posts for doctors will also be created keeping in mind the health sector of the state. The CM said that the Himcare Card, which provides free health services for a variety of ailments, will be required to be renewed every three years instead of every year. The honorarium for the mayor, deputy mayor, and councillors in municipal corporations has also been increased from Rs 12000, Rs 8500, and Rs 5050 to Rs 15,000, Rs 10000, and Rs 6,050 per month respectively.
From April, Sardar Patel University will also start functioning in the Mandi district. 1000 new Anganwadi Bhawans will also be opened in the state.
About the Member of Legislative Assembly Local Area Development fund
MLALAD are funds allocated by the various states to their MLAs for the development of their respective constituencies. These funds are utilized by the MLAs to fund small development projects in their respective constituencies.
