Haryana to host World Union of Wholesale Markets Conference
Haryana Government is going to host 2018 World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) Conference at Gurugram in 10-13 October 2018. In this regard, State Government has inked agreement WUWM. The conference will be organized by Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board.
Key Facts
The main aim of the conference is to provide common unified structure of mandis all across the world and take advantages of the improvements in the mandis in the world for India’s domestic requirements. It will share information related to reforms all over world so that India moves towards single unified world market. Countries from Asia, North and South America, Africa and Europe will participate in the conference. The countries include China, Spain, Brazil, Germany, Argentina, Mexico, Africa and Australia.
World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM)
WUHM is non-profit association that aims to promote international exchange of information on wholesale and retail markets, with a view to improving their construction, organisation and management. Its objective is to promote wholesale markets across world in uniform manner by systems, processes, technology, transparency and trade by exchange of information.
Its mission is to promote the essential role that wholesale and retail markets play in ensuring sustainable access, availability and distribution of diverse variety of quality fresh food products, whilst maintaining competitive prices and highest standards of service and food security, throughout international community.
WUHM is international organisation of 65 countries having members of around 200 Wholesale Markets across e World. It has four regional groups for Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa. It is the only apex organization dealing exclusively in Agricultural Produce Wholesale Markets irrespective of their management pattern, may be Government, Private, Public-Private jointly.
