HAL to set up logistics bases in Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and Sri Lanka
The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is to set up logistics bases in Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and Sri Lanka. This is to entice them towards buying India’s military helicopters and Light Combat Aircraft Tejas.
Highlights
The HAL is working towards increasing defence exports and help India achieve its 5 billion USD defence target. It will also help India achieve its Defence target of Rs 35,000 crores by 2024. Currently India is exporting Defence products of worth Rs 17,000 crores.
The Tejas in particular is being promoted for its high lifespan of 30 years. HAL has identified West Asia, South East Asia and North Africa to sell helicopter Rudra, Tejas and Dhruv.
Role of HAL
HAL has been taking significant roles in boosting Defence Exports. The turn over of the company was Rs 19,705 crores.
