H.R. 40
The H.R. 40 or the Commission to Study and Develop Reparation Proposals for African-American Act seeks to create a commission to look into the need for introducing reparation for slavery in the US. This Bill has been floated for nearly three decades in the Congress. It has been introduced in every legislative session since 1989. The last hearing on H.R. 40 was held in 2019. It regained spotlight recently during a House Judiciary subcommittee hearing.
