Gurinder Chadha awarded 2017 Sikh Jewel Award
Indian-origin British director Gurinder Chadha was honoured with the 2017 Sikh Jewel Award for her contribution to British cinema. She was presented award by UK Defence Secretary Michael Fallon at the Vaisakhi Dinner organised by the British Sikh Association. Some of her noted films include Bend It Like Beckham, Bhaji on the Beach and Bride and Prejudice. Her latest film, “Viceroy’s House” is based on true events of the final five months of British rule in India and partition of India. It coincides with the 70th anniversary of the India’s Independence and the founding of Pakistan.
