GST Collections in May 2022
In the month of May 2022, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue stood at around Rs 1.41 lakh crore. This is a 44 percent increase in comparison to May 2021. The GST collection in May was lower than what was recorded in April 2022 which stood at Rs 1.68 lakh crore. The GST collections in March 2022 stood at Rs 1.42 lakh crore, while in February 2022 it was Rs 1.33 lakh crore.
What were the CGST, SGST, and IGST collected in May 2022?
In May 2022, the GST revenue collected was Rs 1,40,885 crore which is divided into:
- CGST: Rs 25,036 crore
- SGST: Rs 32,001 crore
- IGST: Rs 73,345 crore which includes Rs 37469 crore collected on import of goods
- Cess: Rs 10,502 crore which includes Rs 931 crore collected on import of goods.
What was the GST collected in May 2022 in comparison to April 2022?
In May 2022, the revenues collected were 44 percent higher than what was collected in March 2021 which stood at Rs 97,821 crore. This is for the fourth time that the GST collection of a month has crossed the Rs 1.40 lakh crore mark since GST’s inception. This is also the third straight month since March 2022 that GST collections have crossed the Rs 1.40 lakh crore mark. Generally, the collections of May have always been less than that in April. In April, the total number of e-way bills that were generated stood at 7.4 crore, which is 4 percent less than the e-way bills generated in March 2022 which stood at 7.7 crore.
