Groundhog Day

Groundhog Day is a tradition followed in the USA and Canada where a groundhog predicts whether or not the winter will continue. The groundhog is believed to predict this with the help of its shadow. Punxsutawney town in Pennsylvania, USA is most well known for this event and this year the ground hog predicted a longer winter. The tradition began in Europe in the Middle Ages where badgers were used for prediction. German immigrants brought this tradition over to North America.
